Hello there friends and 'Followers'..........yes a post at last. Sorry it has been so long, but life and a bit of good weather (probably the British Summer) got in the way again. If the sun shines...it's too nice to be indoors crafting!..........Not so today and yesterday...it's like winter again...the socks are back on!!!!!...and the wind!!!!!!(not mine)...battered the beautiful lupins and delphiniums in the garden...and the honeysuckle too...such a shame.
Anyway June is the month of roses and tomorrow is my mums 97th !!!!!! birthday. I have been playing with my Crafters Companion 3 D embossing folder......bit of trial and error......but finally..........
It probably has taken me as long today to try and get a half decent photo the light is so bad.
I embossed on white pearlescent card and chose to highlight the flowers and leaves with my copics. I have to say that the embossing in these folders is superb......but different card reacts differently.
So there we have it...I thought the embossing should say it all...there is something expensive looking about embossing isn't there?
So how are all of you doing...well I hope and making the most of any sunshine. I have had to resort to sunshine in a bottle (well blister pack really)...prescribed by my GP as my Vit D levels are exceptionally low apparently...and a fortnight in the Bahamas was beyond the GP budget sadly...sigh...!....what is the NHS coming to!
Managed a trip to the 'Which craft' Paper show at the Dome on Sunday and caught up with my friends from that neck of the woods. Lovely to see them...they know who they are!
Did I hear you say... did I buy anything?...silly question that one.....I mean if you pay to go in it's silly not to buy anything isn't it?.........mostly stamps...not a lot though...I mean I only wanted a Stazon ink pad really !!!!lol
Very disappointed last week to learn that Samuel Taylors on Roseville Road Leeds is closing this weekend............now where do we go for our crafting supplies? Apparently they are taking it all to Embsay near Skipton.........way too far to trip for a crafty fix for me and I have to say that last time I was up there I was not impressed..........all the papercraft was upstairs...no lift...so help anyone disabled! VERY sad...I used to like the demo days they had and the make and takes...a chance to shop and meet like minded people.
Ok, time to go catch a bit of telly before bed. Lunch with mum tomorrow.
Take care everyone..enjoy your week and weekend when it arrives...all too quickly I suspect.
Forgive me if I am a bit sporadic in blogging and commenting but life is still set to be busy in the coming weeks with appointments etc I wish I didn't have to keep!...crossed dentist off the list last week!...so little time or motivation some days for crafting.but I shall be popping in on you all when you are not expecting me as I love to see all the wonderful talent that is out there.
Finally ..are you still with me? I leave you with a quote from a stamp I have seen tonight on Oyster Stamps website that made me smile....hope it does you too...this is ME.....
I feel like a failure. I’ve been shopping for craft supplies for 20 years and still don’t have what I need!
Thank you for stopping by.....take care...hugs...Carole xx
Good to have you back! Love the card. Let's hope that wasn't the beginning and end of the summer! Keep smiling.

Gorgeous card, it really caught my eye when it popped up in my reading list. I love the delicate colours on the embossing.
ReplyDeleteIt was pretty windy in my part of the UK too today. Our planned stroll by the coast turned out to be a battle against the wind to stay upright! xx
Oh Carole what a lovely post today and a very special card as well that's an amazing age I hope she has a great birthday So sad about Samuel Taylor I've never been to the shop but usually buy things from them at the shows I'll have to see how far the new place is from me on google maps. Finally thanks for sharing that brilliant quote its true of all of us Take care Love and hugs Carole x
ReplyDeleteFirst off... Happy Birthday to your Mom and I hope she had a really wonderful day and got spoilt rotten. Your card is gorgeous and the embossing is so lovely with the added touches of colour.
ReplyDeleteYesterday was awful here but we've had sun today and I even managed to get the washing on the line but the forecast is more rain again tomorrow. I wouldn't mind if that dratted Mojo would stop playing hide and seek and come to play with me
Take care and I hope all your appointments go well xx
The embossing really does look special and very good colouring too. You kept in the lines! I'm not sure I could do that. The pearlescent paper is just right. I hope your Mum enjoyed her day, and you of course.
ReplyDeleteThe weather has been appalling recently and its COLD! Still last week I was too hot so what can I say. Just put up with it and wear extra clothes. x
A beautiful card and love the colours you have added to the gorgeous embossing. You are so lucky to have your Mother and at a great age. Have a lovely day. Hugs, Carol S.xx
ReplyDeleteWow Carole! This is absolutely STUNNING! I so love the dry embossing you did on here too! Hope you're doing well!
ReplyDeleteBig hugs,
Elise
97??? Oh my goodness! Happy birthday to your Mum!! You card is so pretty! And I love that quote... So true! I too have Vit D courtesy of a blister pack ... Do you think all of us indoor crafters have it? Just sayin' ... Least the sun is shining today ... well, so far anyway and my flowers are completely battered by the wind and rain - Plenty of greenery though!
ReplyDeleteI hope we haven't had summer! I waited patiently for my lovely peonies to flower and it seemed literally as soon as they opened the wind and rain came and battered them :o( I think a fortnight in the Bahamas should be available on prescription, for the good of our health!
ReplyDeleteI bought a couple of these folders but haven't used them yet - I love the effect and I like how you did the little areas of colour, hope your Mum had a lovely Birthday.
I stopped going to the shows for that exact reason, I come home with lots of new stash that I don't need! I wasn't keen on the Embsay shop either, too higgedly piggeldy there was stuff everywhere and they weren't very friendly so I usually just buy online now although it is a shame the Leeds shop is closing.
Have a good weekend
Anne x
I bet your Mum loved this pretty and elegant card Carole and that embossing is so detailed! I hope you and your Mum had a a wonderful day.

Wishing your Mum a Very Happy Birthday Carole. I'm sure she loved your beautiful card. I finally gave in and bought a couple of the 3D folders last week having seen some lovely results on cards made by our friend Val, Aquarius. I found it impossible to get the right sandwich so called on our Val for help. Now I need a bit of time to craft! Thank you for your visit and enjoy the rest of the summer. Barbxx
ReplyDeleteHi Carole
ReplyDeleteWhat a stunning card for your Mum .. .. 97 years young! Wow!!! I bet she loved her card. It looks super special!
I hope things are starting to calm down a little for you. Sorry you have appointments to keep that you would rather not :-(
Weather here has been very mixed too. At one point I thought it was Autumn the weather was so bad. But there is promise of sunshine this weekend so fingers crossed the weather forecast is correct.
Take care.
Love Jules xx
Oh, Carole, so much to love in this post - well, except for the wind (not yours) damaging your pretty flowers. :( First of all, your rose embossed card is stunning! I'm sure it lit up your sweet mum's face with all her 97 years of living etched so beautifully on it! I am sorry to hear that NHS won't pay for you to partake of Vitamin Sunshine on some warm coast somewhere. It's a sad day when we have to get our sunshine in blister packs. (Although I have been known to have a few sunshine blisters back in the day of furiously rubbing my loins with baby oil!)
ReplyDeleteIt's also a sad day when all our small town stamp shops close doors or move far away. Here, they've all closed, unable to compete with the interwebs. I miss all the chit-chat and make-and-takes, too. Now I can only heed the siren call of Ms. Freeda Shipping and her friend, Noo Release!! Have a great weekend!! Hugs, Darnell
