Jungle in a box!

Hi my blogging buddies! Yes another week gone and guess what...it's raining here!  :(      Summer hasn't lasted long in this neck of the woods!

So moving on......oh sorry I didn't ask how you all are?...very remiss of me...do hope you are fine and dandy and if not hope you soon will be again.

A pop up box card this time round, made for a friend to give to her Grandson as he turns one!

It's pretty self explanatory really I think. The base is from Craftwork Cards and I found an assortment of cartoon style clip-art jungle animals that I printed and fussy cut. The number one is a Papermania stamp, stamped and cut out, then mounted on the yellow bling card. The backing papers used on the box and flaps were from my stash.

Well the past week has been a week of things packing up here...no not the holiday sort of packing...breaking down type. First the dishwasher decided not to wash anymore. I know that's no big deal...we can manage without a dishwasher...but |I do miss it and marigold gloves just don't really suit me!......and why are they always yellow? Anyway new one on order...can't buy anything straight away these days...................so rubber gloves it is till the new dishwasher lands.

Then the grill on the oven decided to start blowing the main fuse in the house electrics.....repeatedly! So no cheese on toast (hard to do in the toaster...messy). Anyway the engineer dutifully called yesterday tea time (when you might want to be using the oven part of said cooker)............and guess what!!!!!!.............it wouldn't do it for him!  So he went away after half an hour having done ...nothing to the grill... and me feeling stupid. Will have to wait and see if it happens again now.

Lastly the painters turned up this morning to paint the render on the front of the house...rained off!!!! Can anyone tell me why window cleaners and outside painters insist on turning up when it is raining?

OK waffled long enough so will let you move on . Thank you so much for taking time to read my ramblings (that's if you did of course) and if you have left me love in the form of a comment...I shall return the favour as it makes my day......you lovely people.

Off the Summer Crafting on Saturday at the Doncaster Racecourse so if you bump in to me, please grab me and say HI! There is absolutely NOTHING  I want to buy or need to buy............BUT I am sure I will be tempted by something Christmassy at least.

See you later..
Till then..
Have a good week and weekend
Hugs
Carole xx

  1. Your pop-up box card is fabulous Carole - the jungle animals are perfect for a little boy! Sounds like you're having a rough time with the electrics - it never rains but it pours! Funny isn't it - it always rains the day after our window cleaner comes (spooky)!!
Enjoy the craft event - as you say - I'm sure you will be tempted by something!! I have never been to the Doncaster fair - must try it sometime!
Oh no - it's just started raining here - very foggy too!

  7. Carole, your pop-up jungle box is awesome! Seriously awesome! I've not made one (I don't think reading a 'manual' would help me in the least *grin*), but seeing yours here - all wild-critter adorable - has me thinking about it! So darling....the expressions on their faces are precious, especially the hippo! ACK...LOVE it! Your 'packing up' issues don't sound like fun in the least. We've had a dishwasher for about two years now and I've become quite spoiled in using it, even though given a choice, my husband wouldn't have one (I over-ruled him on that decision...guess who does the dishes!). Hopefully, the stove will smarten up on its own and the rains will settle down for the painters to paint. We're in the midst of a heat wave; I don't function well when I'm sweltering. Tomorrow, we're off on a road trip west, where the temperatures will be around 38C...perhaps our 30C is rather 'cool' after all! Wishing you a marvelous Thursday, dear friend. Loads of hugs coming your way...and enjoy your 'shopping' on Saturday *grin*

  8. Your jungle in a box is as cute as can be! I love all the animals and I'm sure he will think this is an awesome card!

Isn't that how it always goes? When the repair man comes things always seem fine then he goes and it's back again. Hope you don't have any more issues, gotta have toasted cheese! My fave!

Have a great time at the summer crafting show...hope you find some fun goodies!

  9. Hi Carole! However did I miss this fabulous pop up box card - it's really great and the theme is such fun too. I love how they all look as if they're peeking out at Henry :)

Ooopsie, at least it was three things that went wrong - that's what they always say anyhow.. And I did giggle about your trip to Doncaster Racecourse when you commented in the Playground ealier - so who didn't really need or even want anything new then? :) Tee, hee!!

  10. Hi Marigold, oops, I mean Carole . . . hope you had a fabulous time NOT buying anything at Doncaster! Ahem!

What a fantastic box card for a first birthday. Funnily enough I was thinking of doing a box card for the 2 year old . . . but as Mojouppedandleftme was still hanging around . . . I just made a normal card instead!

  11. Hi! I popped by to tell you what a smore is. You roast some marshmallows on a stick in the fire, then put them on a graham cracker with a square of chocolate, then another graham on top. Delish!

Here is a link to an indoor smore I sometimes make on my cooking blog...http://cookinupnorth.blogspot.com/2014/01/sweet-and-salty-smores.html

Actually you can make smores in the microwave too, but there's nothing better then outside over the fire!

    Have a great day!
